May 25, 2018 – VDMA Robotics + Automation is creating the basis for interoperable communication in the smart factory using OPC UA (see new VDMA explanation video). Together with member companies, the Machine Vision, Integrated Assembly Solutions and Robotics groups are developing vendor- independent information models: In this way, the machines will speak the same language in the future.
The association and the participating industrial partners will demonstrate the potential of this new communication approach using an OPC UA demonstrator in a concrete and understandable way. At the demonstration area in hall B4 (booth 332) at automatica (June 19-22, 2018 in Munich) two use cases will be shown:
1. Skill-based control: An assembly cell, for the production of fidget spinners, integrates components and systems from over 20 manufacturers. Interoperable integration is achieved by means of skill- based description.
2. Condition monitoring: Several robot manufacturers show how condition monitoring can be implemented independently of manufacturer and robot type in the cloud. All relevant status data are clearly visible on the dashboard.
On the demonstration area, visitors will have the opportunity to talk with experts and to follow technical presentations.
